Roger ruins Old Boys' victory bid
Platt Res 2-1 Chipstead OB Res
The name of Roger Moye should be written into the record books alongside that of Platt Reserves as the winners of the 1964 Smith's Junior Cup.
It was the goalkeeper Moye who alone prevented the underdogs, Chipstead Old Boys Reserves, from deservedly taking the Trophy which they bought and wrapped but so narrowly failed to take away in the second-half of the final on Greatness on Saturday.
Certainly the first-half belonged to Platt and they gave such an impression of mastery over their fellow Third Division opponents, that it seemed only a question of how many they would score .............. but it was not to be.
Playing for much of the half with only ten men, inside-right Ray Wood was twice carried off injured, the Old Boys piled on the pressure with attack after attack, only to find Moye stopping everything.
